hi! my name is lucy han,

a junior at Rice University studying computer science and cognitive science. As a quick TLDR, I’ve been:

  • [2021] a Kode with Klossy Scholar

  • [2023-2024] a Kode with Klossy Instructor Assistant

  • [2025] and now, a Kode with Klossy Intern helping lead instruction across the organization!!!!

Kode with Klossy changed my life.

“You’ll find a folder named, “kwk ♡”. Inside are… screenshots of my teammates hyping up all of my designs, a blurry picture of our team’s uncoordinated dancing to Gangnam Style, and my end-of-program certificate made by my IAs: “Lucy Han — Most Likely to Run the Extra Mile.”’

the beginning

I started my KWK journey with zero experience. So, when I decided to learn web development virtually in 2021, I was super excited — but absolutely nothing could have prepared me for the incredible education and community that would make me cry when camp ended.

I built a entire website with two amazing peers (that still impresses me to this day!) centered around our own passions and interests. I was big on journaling back then, and I still have the quote I wrote about my journey — and my camp certificate — to this day.

giving back

I loved the community so much that for the next two summers, I came back to teach web development and build community for 400+ scholars!!! And oh my god, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only did it strengthen my coding skills, but I also got to meet and work with the most incredible staff and scholars who still make me SOOOO emotional. I bawled again on the last day for both of these camps.

Without spoiling too much of the experience for you, these scholars will change your life. The words they say and the love they leave you with — even after camp ends — is unforgettable. I still keep their messages bookmarked.

NOW MY DREAM JOB???? WHAT

NOW MY DREAM JOB????

Now, I have the absolute privilege of interning this year, managing organization-wide instruction with KWK leadership! I've been working behind the scenes with curriculum, supporting instructors, and even flew out to San Francisco to help out at my first in-person KWK experience — Code-a-Bration. I truly don’t want this internship to end. Even now, I have so many tasks on my plate, but it doesn’t feel like work. I’m doing what I love, with people I love, for a mission I believe in. And I’ve met the most wonderful, inspiring people along the way.

i wouldn't have stayed with kode with klossy for all these years,

wearing so many different hats if I didn’t love this community so. Freaking. Much. KWK is the reason why I chose my major, chose to stay in my major, found so many amazing job opportunities, cultivated my aspirations, thrived in community. To be completely blunt: I would not be where I am today without Kode with Klossy.

kode with klossy made who i am today.

Happy 10th anniversary, Kode with Klossy. Thank you for changing my life — and letting me help others change theirs too. 💖
