2023 - PRESENT

I'm lucky enough to attend Rice University, one of the higher ranked universities in the nation… and a wonderful university for undergraduate research! I have known I wanted to do research here ever since I was admitted. And I've been true to my word — I've done computer science and cognitive science research for all my years of university!

Let me preface by saying that I am very lucky and grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with amazing professors and their initiatives (often just by cold emailing). Although I can't say it for every school or even every research endeavor at Rice University, I believe the research opportunities given to me were far from gated. Big shoutout to these professors/labs for taking a chance on me!

Below are the labs I worked with and the project I worked on (with further explanation later):

  • [💻 CS, freshman spring]: PDF Parsing @ CHIL Labs

  • [🧠 cognitive science, sophomore fall]: Tobii 3 Eye Tracking @ Chil Labs

  • [💻 CS, sophomore spring] PDF Parsing @ CHIL Labs (again! but this time with improvements…)

  • [💻 CS, junior fall & spring] Instructor Interface Backend with Dr. Schreib

my projects… in detail

I'll elaborate on my projects as much as I can from most recent to least recent! I will give credit where credit is due, so I will also tag those I worked with (both peers and professors).

backend on instructor interface w/ dr. schreib

Starting junior fall, I worked on the backend of an instructor-facing platform, the MemStep Instructor Interface!

For context, after the publication/release of her previous educational tools (e.g. Memstep, a ), individuals/organizations reached out to Dr. Schreib expressing interest in these platforms — potentially even using them in their own curricula.
